Yes, Jesus Loves Us

So many of us remember the hymn "Jesus Loves Me," and yet so many of us struggle with really believing that he does.
God's love, the love of Jesus Christ, is that wonderful gift that is given to us so freely and yet it is often so illusive. What keeps us from believing in God?
Does his message just seem too incredible? Why would anyone die for us so that we could be forgiven for our sins and have eternal life?
As we approach Holy Week and Easter Sunday, this is a time to consider the life of God the Son, Jesus, and his life here on earth. Because when we look at his life, we see our own lives in his perspective and hopeful light.
God came to earth in human form, as Jesus Christ, to bring the light of love to this world. He came to let us know that we are loved, that we can be freed from our sin and that we may have everlasting life.
God came to us fully human. He knows what it means to suffer and to grieve. He has been there...on the cross, in death and in experiencing what it means to be on earth loving and losing loved ones. He knows how we feel. God was lifted on to the cross so that we may be lifted too from lives of fear and loss to lives of love in him and for one another.
This season is about light. It is about the Son. It is the time to consider our own lives and how he offers us all new life today and for all eternity.
Does Jesus love us? Absolutely. Remember the words in The Gospel of John 3:16? "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life."
Jesus said: "Whoever has seen me has seen the Father." Isn't it time we all got to know God the Son?
May God's blessings be with you this and every season. And may you begin a holy walk with the one who loves you beyond measure.
