American Legion Breakfast Saturday

This Saturday, November 13, the American Legion Barr-Johnson Hill Post #111 will be offering a community breakfast. Breakfast items include eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, hotcakes, coffee, juice, milk and it is all you can eat for $5.00 adults, and children under 12 $3.00.
The event kicks off at the Deep River Legion Hall at 8:00am and runs until 11:30am.

The Legion Hall offers a community breakfast twice a year, in May and November to coincide with Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Bob Larson, who has been an active post member "since we quit milking cows" or about 20 years, is full of energy and anticipation for the event. Says Larson, "There's probably people there that don't see each other except for those breakfasts in May and November. There are lots of tables and people really enjoy sitting and visiting, you don't have to rush."
The ladies of the Post Ladies Auxiliary, Larson says, "are very capable cooks," noting that "the ladies do a dinner prior to the [monthly post] meeting and we always have very, very good dinners."
The Post recently resumed monthly meetings (second Monday of the month) after their regular summer hiatus. They were honored during their September meeting with guests, including the State Commander and the District Commander. The dignitaries were there to present Post members with a Community Service Award, and complimented them on their good work and friendly camaraderie.
